How many of us like to inspire children? I know that as a teacher of K-2nd Grade Gifted children, I love to see the eyes of my students light up when the understanding of a concept dawns upon them. The school that I teach in is the perfect setting for such inspiration. It is full of dedicated teachers trying to capture that light, but with little funds to help them along.

The obstacle that I face is trying to teach measurement to my very diverse group of children. The needs of a kindergardener are very different than the needs of a 2nd grader. But with the right tools, I can meet the needs of them all. The best way to teach liquid measurement is to show the students what a cup looks like compared to what a gallon looks like. Every year I am scrambling around to find suitable materials to show them this. Many times I am unable to.

The resources I need are a classroom liquid measurement set and a set of calculators to help my students to convert the measurements from one to another. Having these resources will enable my students to have a very concrete, very visual sense of measurement and capacity. It will inspire them to go a step further in their learning and find the different ways to find a gallon. The calculators will also enable them to find the answers for more difficult problems outside of measurement.

Your help will ensure that all of my students' needs are being met. It will allow them to have a resource that can be used over and over in their learning, not just one time. This project is extremely important to my students and your help in making it real is extremely appreciated.
