Composting to Make Our Own Soil!

Help me give my students the school yard composters for my students to turn leftover breakfast and lunch food into soil for our garden and plants!

My Project

My students with disabilities are learning how to create soil from food scraps and yard clippings. They have a large area that they use for growing all kinds of food plants, kukui trees, as well as flowers! They love to learn about growing plants and seeing how they can turn kitchen scraps into soil makes them feel like soil magicians! Composting is a crucial life skill that is also good for the environment. We have one school yard composter that we quickly filled up and now we want more of them to sustainably create more soil and have less of our food scraps go into the trash.
