Help me give my students the opportunity to quickly produce their own compost. This school year, they have been made a compost pile but it takes months to complete the process to be able to use the compost.
Through out this school year, my students have been trying to reduce waste at our school. Together, we have created a warm compost pile outside of our classroom. Although the pile is working well, it takes months for the compost to be ready. By getting these composting units in the classroom, my students will be able to quickly compost materials to be used in our garden.
I feel that this will help my students to see their efforts to reduce waste at our put into action faster by seeing our garden flourish with the compost created.
Students in my class get excited when they can work hands on in our classroom. They tell me that it helps them to understand the concept better and apply it to their lives. I'm hoping that this inspires them to start composting at home to reduce their household waste.
