My students are 9th-12th graders in a resource classroom. Many are working on building the necessary skills to successfully manage high school in general education settings. In addition to the students I serve, I also provide additional math support to students who are taking higher level math classes (geometry and up) and they are also in need of these supplies.
Overall, the students are excited to learn and have grown as learners.
They have grown to enjoy technology via Google Classroom, tablets, laptops, etc. Because the class supports all subjects (English, social studies, math, and science), my class is limited in the resources compared to general education classes.
We are super grateful for the supplies for the class and am working on building a complete set of laptops for the class. The incorporation of technology has increased the academic output and confidence with student work. Because the school has so many needs, there never seems to be enough technology and students struggle with access to material.
The incorporation of technology has supported the decrease of cell phone dependency as well as providing a halfway point.
The students are able to use technology and I am able to provide innovative approaches to content standards with the use of programs such as Nearpod, Google Classroom, Kahoot!, and others. An added bonus is the extra support for students who have challenges with fine motor skills and penmanship.
