My students need five more Classroom Chromebooks so that each student will have full-time classroom access to a Chromebook throughout the year.

My Students
At the front of my classroom is the quote, "Exceed Expectations!" I always encourage my students to go beyond what is expected of them and strive to always work harder, practice more, be better, and to go beyond what teachers, parents, coaches, and friends expect out of them.
I teach fifth grade in a public school classroom.
My students love working with computers, however there are times when a student needs to work on a classroom assignment or project and there are no available computers. Last year I had eighteen students in my class and I had finally funded eighteen Chromebooks through Donor's Choose over a few years so that every student had their own classroom computer. It was fantastic for that year.
I would now like to add five additional Samsung Chromebooks to my classroom as I now have 23 students in my class. We do a lot of our work using the computers and it is difficult when there is not a computer for each child.
I strive for a happy and active classroom where children enjoy learning and each other. My students enjoy being creative and aspire to do their best in school and in today's world using a computer is an essential part to a student's education. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Our school qualifies as a moderate poverty school.
My Project
The Samsung Chromebook is a netbook styled computer that has many advantages over a netbook. It turns on in seconds (no wasted waiting time) and does not use a Windows operating system. It is used for accessing the Internet using the Google Chrome browser. Students find it easy to use the Chromebook to access websites in order to reinforce skills taught in the classroom using computer assisted learning over the Internet done at the student's own level and pacing.
We also use the Chromebooks to research or work together on small group projects or individual creative projects. My class enjoys using websites that reinforce the skills related to the Common Core. Some websites are provided by the school, others are paid for with a subscription price. If we have always available and easy to turn on and use Chromebooks in the classroom, then my students will have the ability to access these websites at any time throughout the school day.
Donations to this project will help my class access and interact with others through the Internet using the easy to use Samsung Chromebook.
Learning will be opened up to them in a much broader way as they work on individual or group projects.
