Complete Classroom Novel Set Allow Creativity in Projects
Help me give my students enough books to fulfill a classroom set for the year, a speaker to hear Audible as they read along, and the necessary classroom items that are not covered in the school budget.
My students are in a high school resource ELA class where they are learning the same curriculum as general education students, but receive their learning at a pace they can keep up with. This is a diverse classroom full of varying abilities. A lot of my students are English as a second language students, from low income families, have specific learning disabilities, or other health impairments. My students learn best in a patient classroom from a teacher who cares about them. We work together closely and help one another in cohesiveness. We do a wide range of artistic and crafty projects to go along with our readings in order to keep things fun and memorable. Thank you for taking the time to read over my classroom description.
My Project
My budget only allowed for ten of each of the novels, The Secret Life of Bees, and Jurassic Park. I need an extra five novels each in order to make a complete classroom set. I pay for Audible every year to allow my slow readers a chance to hear the book as it was meant to be read. They read along to get practice reading, and are still able to understand and keep up with what is going on. Unfortunately, I have to play the Audible version through my overhead speaker which is fuzzy and hard to hear correctly. I do not have speakers attached to my computer, which is why the bluetooth speaker would be incredibly helpful.
My students deserve creative freedom in displaying what they have learned.
I allow them to create a project at the end of a novel which gives them the freedom to visually show me and others what they have learned. Just the red and black markers and copy paper that the school supplies does not allow for much originality. This is why I would like to add poster paper and a colorful selection of markers to my craft area.
The school budget also does not cover the cost of keeping my students healthy and germ free in the classroom. A lot of sickness gets spread throughout the school year. Some facial tissue, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes would really help to cut down on this and keep my students in the classroom and learning. Thank you so much for taking the time to look over my request! These kids and I appreciate you.
