Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I want to prepare my students for 21st century learning practices and experiences. I want to infuse technology into my instruction, and also have my students use technology as a daily tool to conduct research, and utilize it for creativity, problem solving and communication.

I teach in an urban city, Title one, public school where majority of my student are English Language Learners, and come from low socioeconomic families, and all of them receive free lunches.

They all have the potential to become future scientists, engineers and doctors, but they need to have access to the resources to enable them do their science project effectively and efficiently.

My Project

Having a laptop/speakers in my classroom will allow my students to communicate with the real world scientists as well as engineers, and give them opportunities to ask questions. It will also allow them communicate with other students globally through classroom video conferencing. My students will have the opportunity to have Scientific virtual field trips.

This project will allow my students to get involved into 21st century practices.

They start by conducting research, and then work in cooperative groups to do critical thinking, use their creativity, and get involved in the problem solving process, and finally do presentations. By doing so they learn how to be prepared for the job market when they graduate.
