Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Why is Compassion Important? Compassion is important because it promotes meaningful connections, facilitates problem-solving, and improves health and wellbeing.

Our students will learn about compassion and empathy towards others and themselves.

They will learn compassion by reading books, playing games and doing art projects. Students will read books like "the Seed of Compassion", "Listening with my Heart", "The abilities in me" and "I am human, a book about empathy". After reading the books students will engage in wellness activities that promote compassion through art and games. They will make art projects (i.e cards). These cards will be sent to children in the hospital, veterans and those without homes. Students will engage in learning about homelessness, grief and children being in the hospital. Their compassionate art projects will be mailed to children in the hospital who have experienced trauma, grief and terminal illnesses. They will learn about people who are different than themselves as well as learning how to be more compassionate and empathetic individuals in the world. The goal of this project will be to impact 100 children with terminal illness, 100 homeless individuals and 100 medically fragile veterans through art and cards.
