Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our Photo and Yearbook Club at our high school is dedicated to more than just taking pictures—we focus on telling stories that matter, stories that highlight compassion, resilience, and courage within our community. By allowing students to capture and share these stories, we help them learn the importance of seeing the world through the eyes of others and taking compassionate action to make a difference.

The Nomatic Camera Backpack will allow us to securely and reliably transport our gear to different events and locations, empowering students to continue documenting stories of compassion without worrying about damaging the cameras we obtained through a previous Compassion Project.

Through this project, students will learn to see the world from others' perspectives by photographing community heroes and sheroes who work for positive change. For example, they will document our 'Be The Change' live painting, a tribute to individuals who have overcome challenges and helped others. These experiences will foster empathy as students gain a deeper understanding of the struggles and triumphs within our community.

After learning about these stories, students will take action by sharing their photographs through school exhibitions and community events. Their work will inspire others to act with compassion, spreading messages of kindness, empathy, and support.

While we have cameras from a previous project, the Camera Backpack will protect this equipment as students travel to document compassionate stories. This will allow them to focus on becoming storytellers and change-makers.
