My Project
WOA provides a unique learning experience for our high school students. We operate under a hybrid learning model which means that students can work on their online coursework at their own pace from home anytime during the week. However, in addition to this students have weekly opportunities to come into our physical building for collaborative learning experiences and small group support.
Providing students tangible tools to support them in becoming compassionate collaborators will enhance the learning experiences in my classroom.
Compassionate collaborators know how to work with others to share ideas. It is my goal to support students in working together to brainstorm, organize and share their thinking. This project will provide large chart paper, post it notes, markers, and dry erase pockets. These items will make the collaborative lessons I have planned easy to implement and more engaging for students.
My students are amazing! They are learning how to manage their time and self regulate. They are able to work at their own pace and complete coursework faster than in a traditional building. However, being an online student should not be isolating. My students should have opportunities to collaborate with their classmates and grow from those experiences. It is my job to help them become compassionate collaborators and this project will support me in this.
