My Project
Compassionate Care is a project that teaches upper elementary students why hygiene is crucial for personal well-being and social life. It also sparks empathy by showing them how not everyone has easy access to basic hygiene products. Led by their teachers, students will learn how to look after their hygiene and understand how to help those in their community who are less fortunate.
The project aims to show students how lacking proper hygiene can hurt someone's social life, self-esteem, and opportunities.
Teachers will lead interactive sessions where students explore the struggles of people who don't have access to essential hygiene items. These talks will include real-life stories highlighting how much hygiene matters for dignity and social interactions, helping students develop a deeper sense of empathy.
Students will also get involved in a hands-on service project. They’ll collect and donate hygiene products to a local shelter and even volunteer to help hand them out. This experience will teach them the value of service and let them see firsthand how their efforts can improve others’ lives.
To measure the project's success, we will track the number of students who collect and distribute the items to gauge their engagement and commitment to the project. Students will also write reflective essays and participate in group discussions about what they've learned. These reflections will help us understand how their views have changed and how deeply they've grasped the challenges of living without basic hygiene needs.
Through all these activities, discussions, and reflections, students will have plenty of chances to express what they've learned about the project. This will help cement their understanding of compassion, empathy, and the importance of giving back to the community.
