This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I am a first-grade teacher at a public school. My students are excited about learning and want to excel in school. I have a large range of learning abilities in my classroom. My students come from diverse backgrounds with a variety of needs.
My students are sweet and they are excited and ready to learn, explore, and take on the world.
They are excited from the time they get off the bus in the morning to when they leave at night.
My class would like to create a library to share with other classrooms. In our library we will include books to help our friends learn about compassion. To feel good when they help other people. To embrace the differences in each of us. To know it is ok to be different. The books we have chosen will teach our friends to accept each other for who they are and enhance our compassion for those who are different then us. The books will show us that being compassionate and kind to each other makes our school community a place to grow ourselves as people. We will create a chart to graph the different ways to show compassion and and tally chart for how many times we observe compassion in our classroom and our school community. This will remind us how to accept others with compassion and be kind despite our differences.
