More and more young students are needing social and emotional lessons to deal with the ever changing and fast paced world we live in today. We see young children struggle to cope and regulate themselves. There is bullying and anxiety even at the kindergarten level.
When students learn to have compassion for themselves and others, they can be happy learners and grow to be kind people.
Please help my young kindergarteners learn about compassion through the eyes of another person as we read, discuss, and act on what they learned. Lessons will include a story, discussion, and activity with a final class project.
Our final project will be making cards with the supplies. We will practice and work to help those we learned about by making cards to children at our local children's hospital.
I will measure the success of the understanding of compassion during our discussions as well as tracking their behavior during recess.
