This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Spending more time learning hands-on and less time fighting confusing equipment really helps students learn geometry. The days of trying to make circles from string and pencils need to be over.

I want my students to use precise compasses that do not wiggle and loosen as they are using them.

This will not only produce better quality work, it will keep them more engaged once they see how professional their work looks. Some of my students have a very low tolerance for frustration. When the dollar store compass they are using keeps shifting position as they are using it, they want to give up and stop working. These compasses will encourage them to continue working and help them succeed in learning geometry.
