My students need craniums of different hominid species and great apes in order to understand how hominid species have changed over time by a physical model.

My Students

How similar are humans and other hominid species? Help my students examine the differences using model skulls.

My students are freshmen, sophomores, and juniors in either Biology or IB Biology.

They attend a public high school in Oregon with about 1900 students. Currently there are nearly 600 students in one of the two biology courses offered. My students love hands on and engaging activities in which they can see and touch real examples in science.

My Project

This request is for a set of model great ape and human skulls. These skulls will be used each school year in order for students to take measurements and compare the similarities and differences between the different species. The set includes a variety of ape, modern human, and human ancestor models in at a 1/2 scale.

The models will help students to have a physical comparison of how organisms can change over time.

This is an essential understanding in biology; these model pieces will provide students a hands on way to examine the differences for themselves.
