My students need cooking supplies, oven, seven piece cookware, measuring set, a colander and art supplies, educational games, such as The Allowance Game, and an inviting Let the Children Come classroom rug!
My students are an eager group of six to nine year olds, all housed in the same space. My students come from varied socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures.
Our school is a public Pk-8th grade Montessori school that affords learning via the Montessori method to all children.
It is truly a sight to behold when students are all working on their own task at hand, at the same time, side-by-side. Our school is truly a community and the larger community of the school begins in each classroom through interactions, not limited to work periods, but also includes recess, and indoor recess during inclement weather, and cooking and enjoying meals together.
My Project
My students need cooking supplies, and oven, seven piece Cookware, measuring set, a colander and art supplies, educational games, such as The Allowance Game, and an inviting Let the Children Come classroom rug! My students will use these supplies to enjoy their indoor time to relax in a cozy room, have fun, and get creative by enjoying their time as a community, even when the weather is making it so they can't go outside for recess. The cooking supplies will help our students build community through meal preparation and helping them delve deeper into research topics about other cultures.
This specific classroom rug also speaks to our Montessori philosophy that teaches students to be inclusive and peaceful towards all people; especially when there are differences. The students will also enjoy getting to use the carpet sweeper during practical life time to keep our space clean.
My group enjoys hands-on manipulatives because of their Montessori upbringing.
Having these resources available to them will make all the difference. They will no longer feel down when it's raining or too cold, but see the inclement weather as an opportunity to use their "free time" in a different and equally fun way. Having cooking tools ready to go in our space will make cooking a common occurrence in our classroom! The children will
