Help me give my students the baskets they need to organize books by genre for our community book share.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Marty's classroom raised $497

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We want to actively support literacy in our broader community, including families in the surrounding neighborhood and visitors to our school, by creating a student-led Lending Library. Our goal is to nurture a love of reading and boost literacy across all ages by providing free access to books for anyone in our community—not just our classroom.
Students will take the lead in this initiative by organizing and managing the Lending Library.
They will sort and categorize donated books by genre using the baskets we are requesting, and maintain the library's appearance and accessibility. We will place these baskets in public areas around our school campus where community members can easily stop by to "Take a Book or Share a Book." This way, our project serves local families, younger children, and other visitors who may not have easy access to reading materials at home.
To deepen the impact, students will host Read-Aloud events, where they choose their favorite books and read them to younger children during school events or community open houses. These leadership activities will help our students develop communication and organizational skills while directly serving others in the wider community.
