Community Compassion Crayons Part 2

Help me give my students their own "Coloring Without Borders" journal and skin tone art supplies to embrace community, cultures, and subcultures.

My Project

Students will receive their very own writing journal with writing prompts that create and foster unity among cultures. "Without Borders" journals are unique in that students complete the picture using people and places in their lives. Students will complete a picture draw a friend sitting on the swing with you. These journals also foster creativity as they imagine and draw what furniture would be placed in an insects house. With over eighty journal prompts students will analyze their world and appreciate cultures other bring with them. It is essential for students to understand both their own culture and the cultures around them, this project is divided into three smaller projects. This project focuses on journals and personal reflection using skin color art supplies. In this project students will write and draw and illustrate their work using crayons and colored pencils that reflect every student skin color. Students will use "More than Peach" crayons and colored pencils to draw themselves and all people of skin colors in their journals. Students will use all skin tone colors to illustrate and let their imagination fly.

By the end of this project, students will have created personal, illustrated journals that not only highlight their individual stories, but also celebrate the diversity of all people in our world.

With journals and skin tone art supplies students can draw themselves and others authentically, promoting a true representation of identity and people from all different communities.
