Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 48 third graders LOVE coming to school and learning. They are all native Spanish speakers and bilingual students. We share a common goal of working together to learn in a Dual Immersion setting. My students come from loving homes, rich in culture, strong work ethics and admirable perseverance in a lower socio-economic area of Concord, CA. Many times compromises must be made in their families and instability occurs on a regular basis. Regardless of their circumstances, my students show up eager to share their written adventures, mathematical explanations, scientific research, books that captivate their attention and history of all sorts.
My Project
A large and colorful community circle rug will provide the perfect spot to share ideas, listen to each other, independently think and collaborate together. My students come from loving homes, rich in culture, a strong work ethic and admirable perseverance. Often times though, compromises must be made in their families and instability occurs. A community circle rug will be a stable place to cultivate my students' social and emotional well being. When my students feel safe and inspired a copious amount of learning takes place as they share who they are and become who they are destined to be in life.
