My Students

My third graders are awesome! They enjoy working together and love the Whole Brain Teaching style within the classroom. A good portion of our day is spent on the floor working together! Our school is in a low income district which doesn't leave much room for "extras". A rug to sit on by the board would help make our learning time more comfortable and enjoyable! This is something I wouldn't be able to purchase otherwise as it is not considered a necessity. I believe it is though. It will enhance the learning environment by making the board area an inviting and comfortable place.

My Project

This rug will give the students a comfy place to sit while learning at the board. We do a lot of shoulder partner activities at the board. The rug will give the students a sense of community and a place to sit off of the cold floor. I believe the classroom should be like home to my students. If they are comfortable there, they will perform better. I do my best to make the environment as cozy as I can for them and want them to see the classroom as theirs as much as it is mine. This rug will help make them feel at home!
