This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It is the goal of Restorative Justice to seek/promote community and relationships among our students of diverse race, ethnicities and cultures so that they feel better connected to one another and their school. RJ seeks to help motivate students to do better in school and support a strong relationship between classmates and the school community.

It can be difficult to encourage students to attend a club, especially one with this focus, but providing snacks, supplies, an attractive/organized environment and incentives for students creates the perfect motivator.

I wish to provide my students with much needed supplies such as glue sticks, pencils, markers (to accomplish club objectives), as well as snacks, banners as a motivational learning environment, desktop organizers to create an organized work environment and replace existing broken ones as well as incentives and a large tote in order to carry supplies and snacks throughout the school campus.

As we try to promote a better school community, this club aims to reduce conflicts between students, reduce conflict between students and school staff, and even reduce conflict between other community members. Already, students are discussing how to have productive conversations when they get into arguments or start feeling tension with others, and by encouraging others to attend the club, we can teach even more students how to do this.
