Community Building With Flags and Balls

Help me give my students a safe, inclusive, and fun environment where they can build friendships, learn teamwork, and develop leadership skills through football and basketball.

My Project

My project is to foster community among middle schoolers through football and basketball. The focus is on teamwork, sportsmanship, and relationship-building while having fun.

The plan is to create an intramural after school program where students meet twice a week for basic skills training.

We will use the scoreboard to track practices and games. Cones, balls and flags will help build skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, throwing and catching a football and team work drills. Finally a medical kit will be used for anyone needing medical attention. We will also spend time completing cooperative challenges, icebreaker games and daily check-ins.

At the completion of the project we hope to increase students' attendance and interaction among students from different backgrounds to foster teamwork and respect. This will help students stay active and engaged after school. Finally, this program will help build self-confidence, especially for students who usually sits on the sideline, through skill development and positive reinforcement.
