Community Building through STEM

Help me give my students a new creative way to explore their curiosity through STEM bins and Makerspaces. Headphones will also help with our technology time, which often requires headphones but we have a limited amount to use.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are filled with wonder and curiosity about the world around them, so much that they are learning a second language. Not only are they asking questions for their learning but also for an understanding of Spanish.

My students are amazing and hand workers.

They preserver through hard things and often you hear them chant "I CAN" when they face hardships. Due to the pandemic, they are all at different learning levels. I would love to give them the opportunity to grow and learn.

My Project

In an ever-changing environment where we are seeing more interest in STEAM projects as well as jobs in that field, I want to ensure that my students have access to materials that will help foster their interests. Allowing my students the opportunities to be creative, and think critically not only allows them to grow in those areas but also helps to build the resources they need to be good problem solvers in every aspect of their academic lives. I know these tools will not only be greatly appreciated but put to good use in a classroom full of creative minds.

By helping me acquire these materials I will be able to create STEM bins that will help build our classroom community.

They will be able to create STEM projects and work as a group. Not only does this help them with collaboration but as well as exploring their curiosity and problem solving. These all being 21st century skills that they need in the future. The headphones will help them with technology projects that they might need, since our classroom currently has a very limited quantity of headphones that students can use. Sometimes the students can not complete their work due to the lack of headphones. They are distracted by others sounds and it isn't a great learning environment for those students with sensory issues.
