Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I would like a conversation area in the classroom for students to work in pairs and for conflict resolution. Peer mediation is a powerful tool to help students with communication skills, relationship, leadership, and social skills.
A community building area will be designated for students who can problem solve together while I can continue teaching.
We are requesting a couch and table covers.
Students need to be prompted to express themselves with each other in a positive manner and to come to agreements. The morale of the classroom is better when students have the opportunity vent and a place for them have a moment to themselves. This all helps with team building and community cohesiveness.
This community area will also have chrome books or iPads so that they can also do research. Having technology is helpful because there are times when I assign independent online work or online assessment done in the classroom.
