My Students

Our school is a Title I school with a population of English learners and socioeconomically disadvantaged students.

Though our students have challenges academically, they come to school each day (virtually) eager to learn.

While they cannot be physically at our school yet this year, each morning they log into Distance Learning so excited to see their peers. Despite the current situation, they continue to get classwork done, participate in discussions, attend class meetings (whole class and small group instruction), and maintain a positive attitude.

I am amazed each year to see the amount of growth my students achieve in all subject areas. My students are truly the reason why I love what I do.

My Project

Distance learning has brought A LOT of changes to our students. One notable difference is the lack of social interaction among peers, and even with staff members. Each day, I make sure incorporate social-emotional lessons into my lesson plans, as well as community building activities and games. Some notable ones include Would You Rather?, scavenger hunts (their favorite), I-Spy, Guess Who, and more during our FRI-YAY meetings and I would love the chance to use the amazing Teachers Pay Teachers resources to include more of these for my hard-working and deserving students.
