Community and Family Engagement with a STEM and Leadership Focus

Help me give my students antique skeleton key charms, flashlights, candy, and other materials for an engaging community and family engagement STEM night.

My Project

Learning with my students is the best part of being a teacher! They are the reason I eagerly anticipate each new day. My students are excited to learn and share their new-found knowledge with those around them. They love the learning process and understand that the process is just as important as the product.

My students understand that, regardless of their circumstances, their choices and actions empower them to reach their goals.

I work in a Title I school. Many of the students in my school come from underprivileged homes. Despite this obstacle, they continually work hard to learn and overcome the challenges that they face. They are leaders and examples to those around them. Students in our school are taught to be leaders in their classroom, family, and community.

The donations from this project will go toward a community and family STEM engagement night for Halloween. Members of the community will be invited to join in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) activities including escape rooms, black light artwork, learning about leadership opportunities in our homes and communities, and Halloween treats. Our engagement night will have a leadership focus. Students will create presentations to display leadership habits following the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Children.

As families complete activities or break out of escape rooms, they will be presented with a skeleton key. 5 keys will allow them to "escape the school!" The keys will be exchanged for small goodie bags of Halloween treats.

Additionally, this project will provide decorations such as balloons, picture backdrops, and tablecloths.

We are so excited for this opportunity to give back to the community and improve family engagement in our school!
