My students need iPads to help them communicate and learn speech and language skills. Along with protective cases, a keyboard is necessary for those students learning to use keyboarding skills.

My Students
My school has a large population of students with special needs. These students are high poverty and come to school with limited materials. In addition, many of my students come from homes that do not speak English.
Every year, I have 5-10 students who are non-verbal.
They need additional tools and modeling to help them learn language in alternative ways. My verbal students also need the ability to access speech and language apps to help them learn and be assessed consistently.
My Project
As the Speech-Language Pathologist, I work with many children who lack verbal language skills. They need consistent modeling of language using technology to help them gain the communication skills that their peers developed years before.
These iPads will make a tremendous difference in helping my students to communicate.
With this technology, my students will learn alternate ways to help them be successful both with communication and access other areas of their education.
In addition, most of my other (50) students will benefit from being able to use speech specific apps for speech, language, or social skills. There are a so many free and inexpensive apps that would make a huge difference in learning the skills that need extra support with.
