Help me give my students with autism access to functional communication system with a web-based program that will give me a library of over 60,000 dynamic symbols.
My students are amazing people who surprise me every day. My students inspire me to be a better teacher and work to constantly find the piece of the puzzle to unlock their potential.
I believe in my students and strive to stretch their potential a little every day.
I am a special education teacher in an autistic support classroom in a Philadelphia school district. High school special education programs, designed for students with complex needs, focus on functional academics, interpersonal communication, life skills activities, and pre-vocational work tasks.
My Project
SymbolStix PRIME is a web-based program that is the most complete symbol set available with over 60,000 dynamic symbols. This program makes the promise to ensure that all unique learners will have access to core-content vocabulary, learning, language and self-expression.
Interactive symbol-based communication is an evidenced-based communication format that meets the needs of students with autism with speech and language challenges.
The SymbolStix PRIME program provides teachers with an extensive library of symbols, various communication boards, interactive speech generating tools, and the ability to make learning materials. This communication program will give me the ability to create individualized communication tools for my students to use within academic lesson, to develop positive behavior supports, to use during inclusion experiences and community-based instruction.
