My students are bright and caring children. They love to work together and learn in active ways! Our school is arts-integrated, which means we teach academic concepts and standards through the arts including drama, visual arts, creative movement, and creative writing. We teach and foster collaboration as a key cornerstone of our curriculum. Because of this collaboration, we practice inclusion for students with special needs. I also teach students who are learning English as their second language.
Our students learn how to work as a group through the creative process.
They take pride in their work and love to celebrate each other's accomplishments. Our school is such a positive environment!
My Project
I teach students who are learning English as their second language.
In order for all of my students to gain academic language, they have to hear, see, speak, write, and respond using academic language.
This book will help me learn how to collaborate with other teachers and build plans for my English language learners to build skills. The paper will help me implement strategies that will make learning visible for my students. I can make charts to record academic language, and to record what my students say as an assessment. My students can collaborate and record their language themselves. I am excited to help my students learn more, speak more, and do more!
