Help me give my students interactive activities to help practice and build their communication skills. My students are in need of floor puzzles, LEGOs, Mr. Potato Head, and games to work on receptive and expressive language.

My Students
My students are thoughtful and curious, and interested in learning new things. Students at my school come from a high poverty level, which results in a high percentage of free and reduced lunch. Our school is also a personalized learning school; the idea of personalized learning is that ultimately each student moves forward at their own pace and at their own style so they can work on their strengths, but also work on their weaknesses. Personalized learning also involves using technology to teach students.
Learning is our passion, but for my students in my special education class, this can be difficult without additional materials support their various communication styles and needs.
We have no budget to buy classroom materials and often as educators, we have to buy supplies ourselves. In order for my students to reach their full potential, I want to make sure I have interactive activities available for them to help them succeed in learning and practicing communication skills.
My Project
These materials will help make a difference in my students' learning because it will make working on communication skills fun and engaging. I would like to include communication stations into our lessons so my students can build on skills they are learning with other specialized staff and make connections with them in the classroom.
Most of the students in my classroom communicate in different ways, including using speech output devices such as iPads, or pictures called PECS (picture exchange communication system).
The materials provided in this project will help my students practice and build their communication skills in the areas of receptive and expressive language.
Puzzles are very engaging for my students who typically have strong visual performance skills, and they can make requests for additional pieces while building. Requests can be as simple as single words "Puzzle" or more complicated phrases/sentences "I want puzzle piece please". With LEGO my students can ask for "LEGO" to build pieces, or they can expand their request to include a specific color of LEGO "Blue LEGO". With the marble maze building set, we can work on receptive language skills of following directions and prepositions. For the games, my students can work on cooperative game play skills while also aiding in their communication skills. After rolling a number and color dice they can request the specific color/number, they can also work on social skills such as "My turn/your turn" while playing. With Mr. Potato Head my students can ask for different pieces to assemble the toy.
All of these toys and games will help maintain my students' interest to make building their communication skills more engaging.
