Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
What I love most about my Pre-K students is their natural curiosity, boundless energy, and the unique ways they express themselves. Each day with them is full of small moments of discovery, connection, and growth. At this early stage in life, they are learning how to navigate the world, communicate their needs, and build relationships, and it’s a privilege to guide them through it.
Communication binders are a vital tool in this journey.
They help bridge the gap between school and home, ensuring that families stay informed, involved, and empowered in their child's learning process. When families can see what their child is working on each day, whether it’s new vocabulary, behavior goals, or routines, they are more equipped to support and celebrate progress at home.
Each resource in the communication binder is intentional: Visual schedules help children anticipate transitions and build independence. Daily check-ins and behavior charts promote self-regulation and accountability. Work samples and goal sheets allow families to see real progress and understand the curriculum. Home-school notes and reflection pages create a two-way conversation, reinforcing that learning doesn’t stop when school ends.
Over time, these binders do more than just organize information, they teach responsibility. Students begin to take ownership by helping manage their binders, reflect on their day, and understand their own learning goals. It’s a small but powerful step toward lifelong skills like organization, accountability, and communication.
In short, these binders are more than just folders; they are bridges between school and home, between child and caregiver, between today’s efforts and tomorrow’s growth.
