Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a community service project my students want to foster communication with parents and community members who do not speak English, this a way to go over forms when they come to school.
The translator pen will allow parents to preview the and help them fill out forms and go over papers that are not written in their native language when they come to school.
Sometimes we have students help but some parents would prefer to be more independent. There are also some items that are more sensitive, this gives the adults some privacy with school issues.
To provide a way for community members to interact with the staff at the school is very important for our school.
Parents and community members can also write in their native language notes for teachers to read, Using the Translator pen teachers can understand things that community members and parents are trying to tell us as well.
Teacher Pay Teacher activities will both community members and teachers to practice in different language this will help bridge the communication gap between the ELL parents and community and the school staff.
This will really help parents in our community who do not have the skills to communicate with the school staff, and that will bring our community closer!
I want to place a cart in front of the school and decorate it with stickers, this cart will be used to share books at the end of the day for community members to take to help them on their journey to learn English! The stickers will be used to decorate the cart and encourage young children to come and check out what we are giving out!
