My Students
I am a Speech-Language Pathologist working with special needs students in diverse school. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and have a variety of special needs. They have disabilities ranging from developmental delays, to autism, to intellectual disabilities. All of my students have goals in many different areas and at many different levels.
My students are working to build skills in language, functional communication, speech sound production, and fluency.
After over a year off of school due to COVID so many of our students are feeling the loss of learning that occurred and lack of social engagement. My project has many different options to help them all stay engaged and make great gains as well as help students back in school or who are virtual, either temporarily or permanent.

My Project
Many of these materials will help students to have hands on experiences, use pictures to help them communicate, and have play materials to help them learn. Fidgets and light up toys are used for students to encourage speech as well as to have for reinforcement. Using play helps them to make real world connections faster and be able to use it with their families and friends. Some of these materials will also help to organize the new supplies we are receiving.
Learning using many different methods will help them to understand and more easily generalize their learned skills.
When all of their senses are engaged and they will grow in leaps and bounds. These materials will help learners at all levels show their abilities and communicate their needs. Many of my students use alternate ways (pictures) to ask and answer questions and get wants and needs met. These materials will help students learn and better understand story elements and reading foundational skills that are in the Nevada Academic Content Standards. They will be able to ask and answer questions, understand different types of stories, and actively engage in group reading activities. Many of the items will also help keep the materials organized so that they are able to easily access for anyone that comes in my room. In my speech room we have to be flexible and ready for anything. New computer screen will help me have more digital options for my online students as well as my in person who students that still access digital resources.
