My students need new communication bags for the upcoming school year. The bags we ordered in the past are tearing & are just not strong enough for folders & materials sent home.
This project expired on August 24, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Our school is located on the northwest side of Chicago. Our preschool program is full of energetic, bright, happy students. We have two blended classrooms (14 general education students and 6 students with special needs) and one general education classroom (20 general education students). We are a half day program making our program have 120 students (most of the time it is more because we end up having to over enroll).
Many of our families are from a lower income and need extra time to pay for materials, field trips, or other items for the classroom.
DonorsChoose is a great way for us to help our families when it comes to materials in the classroom. Our students are in need of materials to help us communicate with families and caregivers.
Our students need new communication bags! Students bring these bags home and back to school daily. We use the bags to send home student work, upcoming events, and school information. In the past, the bags we have bought with parent donations have unfortunately been breaking causing the students to need new ones, just to have them rip again.
These bags benefit the students by not only helping us communicate with their families, but also giving them a responsibility.
At ages 3 and 4, our students are learning how to take care of their own things by remembering to bring the bags, putting materials, work, and school papers in their bag, and making sure their bags are not lost or damaged.
These bags help the students with our "Lending Library" as well, giving the students a place to keep their books and book reviews to take home and read with their families. Please help us reach our goal of getting these sturdy bags for our preschool program!
