This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Going into my eleventh year as a speech therapist and I have one of the largest caseloads I’ve ever had! My department doesn't provide materials for us nor do we have a budget for purchasing materials. Everything I use within my therapy sessions is self funded and/or self made. I service students grades K through 2. In therapy sessions, we work on expressive and receptive language skills and articulation (speech sounds). Visual aids are often necessary for successful communication and understanding of language. I create 100% of the visual aids used with therapy sessions. There is always a high need for laminate and Velcro, as these materials need to last an entire school year. These materials will help support the success of students in the area of speech and language with a wide variety of deficits and disorders.
