My Project

As a Speech Language Pathologist in a new district this year, where more than 50% of students are Black, Latino, and/or Native American, and more than 50% come from low-income households, I want to provide my students with equitable access to visual support and resources to help them expand their communication skills.

My students, have Individualized Education Programs developed to provide them with specialized instruction, accommodations, and modifications to help them to access the grade-level curriculum and achieve academic benchmarks in their general education classroom.

My student has expressive and receptive language disorders including articulation deficits, autism, learning disabilities, and cognitive deficits that prevent them from comprehending language and expressing themselves.

They are eager to communicate clearly and effectively in order to interact with peers socially and across their academic settings. Using an iPad in therapy sessions will provide interactive visual support and games, encourage participation, and increase expressive and social language skills.
