This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Help me give my students and school take-home folders to increase communication between home and school. Our school is housed in a small neighborhood. Everyone knows everyone. We are working hard to build a community between the school and the families that live in the neighborhood. The hardest thing I have found this year is having a way to make sure all the papers get home to the parents and the parents know what is going on in the school. We are able to send some things electronically, but some parents don't have access to technology or won't read it online.
Communication folders would not only allow us a way to send home daily work, information from school, and notes from the teacher, but it would allow the parents to also send notes and return information to the school.
The students will have all the materials they need at home so they can get help with their work and parents will know what is happening in the classroom so they can help their children and be involved in our many school activities.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
