Every student is different, which makes the classroom a wonderful place to learn about these differences and learn how to be empathetic and caring. For a student who has different sensory needs and a limited ability to communicate, the classroom can be a very scary and frustrating place to learn and develop.
These communication cards will provide our non-verbal students a way to communicate with us and their peers, while having the sensory materials needed to calm themselves.
The liquid motion tubes will provide a visual opportunity for students to calm themselves, while the different textured stress balls will give them an opportunity to have different textured materials to calm themselves. The magnetic blocks will give them a variety of learning opportunities for them both mathematically and cognitively. The communication cards will provide the lead teacher, supporting teacher, and students the opportunity to all use the same pictures and sign language to communicate with each other.
