Help me give my students the skills they need to become proficient readers and communicators. I have included items such as "phonemic awareness set" because phonological/phonemic awareness skills are prerequisites to developing reading skills.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a speech-language pathologist in an elementary school, I serve students from pre-k to 5th grade. My students have a wide range of diagnoses and differences including Autism, reading disabilities (e.g., Dyslexia), speech and language disabilities (e.g., impaired articulation, expressive and receptive language disorder, fluency disorder, social communication disorder), and ADHD. Due to the wide range of disabilities, I need to have a wide range of materials to facilitate adequate support.
The materials added to this project will help me provide my students with the support they need through dynamic and engaging materials to gain communication and reading skills.
I have a specific focus on materials to support reading skills, vocabulary skills, and narrative skills.
Communication and reading skills are key for one to become independent and self-sufficient. The lack of these skills is linked to poor health outcomes, welfare dependency, gender inequality, and a lack of social cohesion. With your help, we can make a little difference.
