This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is full of 31 enthusiastic learners who are articulate, love collaborative projects, prefer to partner read as opposed to reading independently, and are highly engaged in their learning.
Currently, they are at home and begging me to Zoom with them daily because they want to connect with me and they miss their classmates and miss being able to share their projects.
We are using a ten year old computer that has audio issues and connectivity issues, so having online class meetings with students trying to present projects has been quite frustrating.
My Project
Having 31 amazing fifth graders who love to read, write, create, and share has been a real challenge during the Distance Learning phase of teaching. We have experienced the challenges of old computers, poor audio, and the frustration of trying to learn through this process.
A laptop that enables students to communicate with their teacher and classmates, present their projects, and engage every member of the class would improve learning ten fold.
Creativity, communication, and collaboration are essential skills of the 21st Century and a device that enables students to improve and polish their presentation skills through distance learning would be fantastic.
