My Students

My players are exceptional athletes and young ladies. They excel on and off the field. Several are leading their class with a 4.0 GPA, while they lead on the field as All-Division Athletes. They strive to get better in every aspect of the game. This year they have the potential to do something special for our little town.

Softball is a way of life for these girls.

Coming from a small town, college scholarships are few and the demand is high. Our school is a Title I school with a large percentage of students receiving free and reduced-price meals. Softball can help open doors for many of these players to continue school where financially they would be unable to do so.

My Project

Softball is an expensive sport and for a small school that does not receive a lot of funding, it is hard to provide all the essentials. Armbands are used for communication between player and coach. Defense and offense, both rely on these bands. When communication fails there is a breakdown in the overall goal. Last year we implemented using bands and found much success but after an entire year of use several need to be replaced. Another expensive yet mandated item is game balls. Each game you must have around 3-4 new balls. The balls are expensive and do not last long for game regulation play.
