Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a speech language pathologist in a public school in the Bronx, my job is to help my students communicate in the world around them. My students come from low-income households with extremely limited resources. I want to expand my students’ exposure to real life experiences by immersing them in language enriched environments.
By providing art supplies for my students, they will be able to engage in tactile activities to activate their language skills.
My students with language and learning disabilities will benefit extremely from hands-on experiences. The alphabet stamps with help my dyslexic students improve their reading abilities. The Velcro will allow me to create communication boards for my nonverbal students. The emotions dough mat will help my social emotional students be able to recognize a variety of emotions and allow them to express their emotions. I can’t wait to give my students with disabilities more opportunities to engage in tactile learning.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
