I teach at a small, rural, Title I school, with about three students. All of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. We are located near a large army base. Many of our students are children of active duty or retired military personnel. Our students are bright and eager to learn new things. They are hard workers and strive to make their world a better place.
This year, I am moving from kindergarten to second grade.
I am looking forward to being reunited with some of my kindergartners and some wonderful new students.
I enjoy teaching all of my enthusiastic, hardworking students. I am thrilled to be able to work with such creative and thoughtful students. They deserve the best education possible.
My Project
I am requesting Daily Math Practice Journals to help supplement our 2nd grade curriculum. The journals will help the students grow through daily practice this school year. The journals will be used in class as practice. Students will also take home the journals for homework.
These journals give students the chance to work at home with their families on their math skills.
This will foster understanding of the second grade math curriculum for both students and their families. Students can apply of the necessary math skills through interactive practice at school and at home.
The journal includes thirty-five weeks of standards-based Math practice including Monday through Friday daily activities. Each builds upon the next. This format will provide support for both students and their families. Also, the practice journals help the students learn to explain their thinking when using math skills.
