My students are students that scored a level 1 or level 2 on the state math exam. My school is located in a low-income/high poverty school district. My goal is to present my instruction using a variety of manipulatives. Incorporating manipulatives into mathematics lessons in meaningful ways helps students grasp concepts with greater ease, making teaching most effective. Manipulatives help students develop conceptual understanding of mathematical ideas by representing ideas in multiple ways. I want student success whatever it takes!
My Project
Children will have a great time this year in AIS Math learning math in fun and exciting ways using a variety of manipulatives.
We use computers, manipulatives and tablets to learn, review and practice math skills.
We meet in small groups to learn just what you need. We use manipulatives and play math games often as a way of practicing these skills.
Solving word problems is an important part of math. We will solve and create word problems using tape diagrams or bar models, pictures, and charts. They check out the Math Playground website to practice using the tape diagrams to solve problems.
