My Students

"There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island," Walt Disney said. I agree! It is my job as a teacher to get the students to agree as well.

I teach 4th grade students on various reading levels and interests.

Our classroom is a diverse mix of students that are economically disadvantaged, have special education needs, special medical needs and are in the lowest 25% of the entire 4th grade. We also have a few students that are "gifted and talented" and always looking for a challenge.

My Project

Video Cameras are an exquisite way to open kids minds up to a world of books. The camcorders will be used for "Commercial Time" where students will give an exciting and informative Book Review in commercial form that will be shared with our class and other students at our school. Not only will this motivate them to explore books, it will open the students eyes up to the variety of amazing literature available to them.

As a teacher I can read great literature, have a library full of books and give the children all the tools possible to build a LOVE of reading, but these video cameras will open the world of books to them from another perspective... their peers!

Not only will these camcorders help my class this year, it will be beneficial for other students and many classes for years to come!
