This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special education teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district. Our school mantra is, "We are here, ready to learn, build our character and increase our intellect." My students strive to live up to those words every day.

Despite the challenges they face, my students strive to do their best.

As their teacher, I strive to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences that will tap into their different learning styles and help them to achieve their potential.

My Project

The Time For Kids subscriptions that I am requesting will help my students improve their skills in reading nonfiction texts. They are able to read about current events that are written on their grade level. They can hone their skills in determining the text features that are specific to nonfiction and prepare to tackle the PARCC test.

The headphones will be used for use with the computers and learning websites.

The presenter remote will help me be more mobile in the classroom when I am presenting a lesson.

The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will help them be more academically successful in a way that is more interesting and engaging. Gone are the days of lecturing a class. These materials will help me have students work in groups and present projects on the computer.
