This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have noticed that a lot of my newcomers are absent on a regular basis. Sometimes it is because they are sick, or some of them are working, have no method of transportation, or are not motivated enough to come to school. I have taken my time to learn the interests of my students in regards to incentives and what motivates them to keep them trying their best.

The materials on our list are some of my students' favorites, we have came into a class agreement that for perfect attendance each week they earn an incentive.

This is going to be a great strategy that will work with my newcomers because I have implemented it before with other students and they have been present regularly. Thank you so much for your consideration and support for our newcomer students so they enjoy coming to school more often in a welcoming environment that I provide for them.

My goal is for them to attend my class everyday so they can learn the English Language with me, gain literacy skills, and grow their social emotional learning skills as well.
