My Students

Next school year (2019-2020), I will be teaching 2nd grade Literacy at a public school in the community of Englewood, on the South Side of Chicago. The school currently serves 410 students grades K-8. I will be teaching 40 2nd graders- 20 in the morning, and 20 in the afternoon. 100% of the students live in the surrounding Englewood community.

My 2nd grade students are bright, curious, and ready to take on the challenges of a rigorous literacy curriculum!

I am committed to providing every single one of my 2nd graders with the tools and skills they need to succeed in reading and writing- and to become college bound and ready.

My Project

This project includes all the materials my classroom environment will need for the upcoming school year. It also includes materials that will organize students and keep them learning throughout the school day and year!

The value of a well-organized, calm, and efficient classroom cannot be overlooked.

It is so important that my 2nd grade students have a way to organize themselves and engage with their learning properly (headphones, crayons), and that I, as their teacher, have a way to organize the classroom.

My students will be working in rigorous literacy rotations daily. They will be participating in guided reading and reading comprehension with myself, independent reading, and reading programs on tablets. They need the materials in this project to fully engage with reading and writing content, and I need the materials in this project to create and deliver literacy lessons of a high quality!
