My Students
I teach at a Title I school in an underserved part of San Francisco. Many of the students are children of immigrants or live in the neighborhood's low-income housing development.
Though their families often have fewer resources, that doesn't stop my students' desire and ability to learn and achieve!
My students are curious, funny, sweet kids who can't wait to learn in third-grade. They are eagerly learning cursive, mastering their multiplication facts, reading chapter books, investigating live crayfish in science, making stop-motion videos about Native American life, typing up their stories on Chromebooks, and so much more.
My Project
Students are back in-person at school! It is wonderful to see their smiling faces and the energy they bring to the classroom. Now that students are getting back in the groove of learning in a classroom after months of lying on their bed or sofa, I need different seating options to help them focus and calm their wiggly bodies to be ready during lessons and reading time.
I have several students with special needs (on the autism spectrum, ADHD) who benefit from sensory stimulation, and sitting in a chair behind a desk just doesn't work all the time.
I already have a couple of wobble stools that they love using. But ALL of my students will benefit from these comfy seating choices. The wobble chair and floor seats will allow them to fidget and stretch their legs so they can focus on their reading or the lesson I am teaching. Please help me provide more flexible seating options for ALL my students!
