Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a Spanish teacher in East Harlem, I must plan meaningful lessons for different language level students. My classroom is made up of non- Spanish speakers, heritage speakers, and native speakers. Throughout the years I plan according to levels in order to allow all student to make progress.
My students are very special.
As their Spanish teacher I try my very best to differentiate lessons and activities without short changing any student's level. This year I would like to try something new and have my Spanish speakers engage in a book club while I teach the introductory lesson to our curriculum
My Project
As we get ready to reopen schools after going through such a pandemic it is imperative for me, as a teacher, to focus on the social-emotional state of my students and try my best to provide them with a comfortable environment that will be conducive to learning.
Social distancing is a new concept for all and small group classes will be held in my classroom.
Keeping this in mind, I am designing different areas for my students to find comfort and feel relaxed during our 50 minute class periods. The chairs in this project are a perfect fit for this purpose.
